Ruby crystal ring

Rubies that crystallize in the classic pointy sapphire shape are really rare. They are usually found in more tabular form or in flat top barrel shape.

This one has a great shape, clear growth lines and a great pinkish-red color.

I carved the ring in wax and cast it in 18k yellow gold. It was my first time doing the whole diamond pavé layout myself, it wasn't easy, but I think I nailed it! I used fifteen 1.3mm, five tiny 0.8mm and a 1.7 for the point, all natural.
Then I finished by setting the ruby with four sharp claws.
